Make a chocolate KitKat piano cake with your kiddos

Designing, measuring, cutting, pasting, and of course, eating! All part of STEAM!

We took a break from building our tree house yesterday to make a piano cake. My kids enjoy playing their instruments, and everyone perks up when the aroma of baking cake is lingering in the house.

You will need:

2 boxes of chocolate cake mix

12 white chocolate KitKats

4 chocolate KitKats

2 containers chocolate icing

2 9×13 baking pans

Knife

Icing spatula

Ruler

Instructions:

Bake cake according to directions. Let cool. For top part- cut about 4 inches off front of 1 cake where keys will go. Cut back of cake into shape of piano. For bottom part- cut back of cake into shape of piano. Ice bottom cake. Place top cake on bottom leaving space in front for keys. Trim to make both back parts even shapes like pianos and in line together. Ice whole cake. Add 12 white chocolate KitKats for keys. Cut 4 chocolate KitKats in half for black keys Add icing like glue to chocolate keys as you paste to white 1st, 2nd, 4th,5th,6th,8th,9th, 11th keys. Enjoy đŸ˜‰
