This school year, I’m thrilled to be working with kindergarten. We started off the first week of school listening to a read aloud of an old favorite: Miss Bindergarten Gets Ready for Kindergarten.
This fun book is a staple in kindergarten because there are so many layers of meaning: repeating words, rhyme, colorful pictures of animal characters, and patterns.
With so much to think about and connect to, this book helps little ones transition to school. They love it and ask to read it over and over.
Here is a list of some new favorites from the Association for Library Service to Children (ALSC). The Notable Children’s Books for 2019: http://www.ala.org/alsc/awardsgrants/notalists/ncb
Happy Reading!
